How to fix the red ring of death on your Xbox 360 To fix an Xbox 360 that has the red ring of death you have to overheat the machine. Take some towels and cover up all the air holes on the unit. Make sure that you that you wrap it up really good so that it can not get any air. You have to use 3-4 towels to get the machine sufficiently covered so that it will overheat. Let it run for approximately 20 minutes. After 20 minutes unwrap the Xbox and turn it off. Then turn it back on. The Xbox will reboot as normal and when it does it will be fixed.
