How To: Make your own Xbox 360 faceplate

Make your own Xbox 360 faceplate

Purchase a silver XBox 360 faceplate from your local gaming retailer. You can also remove the faceplate currently on your XBox 360.

Sketch out your faceplate design using a piece of paper and pencils. The design should incorporate both the memory card flaps and the USB flap; compare your sketch to your current faceplate for reference.

Incorporate images from your favorite games or gaming photos from websites as inspiration for your design.

Transfer your design onto the faceplate by gently outlining the images on the plate using a pencil. Don't press too hard as it may damage the faceplate.

Trace over your outline with a black paint pen. These pens are precise enough to translate your concept onto the narrow, curved design of the faceplate.

Apply the design onto the flaps of the faceplate using your paint pen. Allow the flats to dry and then cover each one with a strip of painter's tape. This will prevent excess paint from seeping under the faceplate.

Color in your design using paint pens of different colors. Work on one small area of the faceplate at a time, allowing the paint to dry before moving on.

Add finishing touches such as stickers or small objects that can be glued onto the faceplate. Attach the faceplate to your XBox 360 and power on the console.
